Oh, oh, oh! Happy New Year, everyone! Welcome in the Year of the Rooster!
I'm so behind on my blogging; traveling means limited access to computers that have a) USB ports to connect one's digital camera; b) editing software that allows you resize your photos to a managable size and c) quick bandwidth for uploads. And so I have been thwarted by the lack of at least one of these items on several occasions.
I have been in Yunnan province for the past two weeks, and given the strength of the province's minority culture, there's just so much more I want to put up. My camera is just filled with images to share. So please be patient with me!
I spent Chinese New Year in Kunming, where the weather is sunny, clear, and soul-warming 75 degrees. For New Year's dinner, my friend and I had a Kunming specialty -- "cross-the-bridge noodles." More on that later.
I can only say that you haven't truly seen fireworks until you've seen Chinese New Year in China. And people are still setting them off today (it sounds like a war zone outside!).
I hope everyone had a great holiday!
